Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman, cervical cancer patient and the unknowing source of the legendary HeLa cell! Her cells were used for scientific research by George Otto Gey to create an immortal cell line.
Definition of the HeLa Cell
The HeLa Cell is a type of cell in an immortal cell line used for scientific research. The cell was found from cancer patient Henrietta Lacks in February of 1951.
